Christopher is a Certified Public Accountant in Public Practice. He holds an Advanced Diploma in Accountancy from Nyegezi Social Training Institute (now Saint Augustine University of Tanzania) and the Master Degree in Business Administration from the University of Dar es Salaam. He is registered with Tanzania Revenue Authority to practice as Tax Consultant. He is the Managing Partner and the founder of BAAS ASSOCIATES. He manages all the operations of the firm which include administration of the firm, clients audit, accounting and tax engagements. Before the formation of BAAS ASSOCIATES, Christopher had worked with Ernst & Young for over twenty years. The latest positions held while with Ernst & Young were Audit Manager; and Senior Finance and Administration Manager. As Audit Manager, Christopher managed audit engagements for local and international clients. He was responsible for Managing clients’ portfolio, planning the audit engagements and supervision of audit teams. His audit client base covered a range of industries; including oil and gas, manufacturing, hospitality, donor funded projects, media, telecommunications and construction. As Finance and Administration Manager, Christopher was responsible for co-ordination of all financial and administrative functions within the firm; liaise with Service Line Leaders in the preparation of the firm’s budgets; monitoring the effectiveness of the firm’s internal controls; performing business analysis of the Service Lines activities to provide key performance indicators that facilitated decision making process for effective and efficiency running of the firm’s operations. He was also responsible for the overall management and custody of the firm’s assets and liabilities; ensured compliance with the statutory requirements with regard to payment of taxes and submission of relevant returns to the respective tax authorities; supervision of the preparation of periodic management reports (weekly, monthly quarterly and annual); reporting financial and administrative matters to Ernst & Young Global, Area, and Regional Offices on periodic basis as per laid down procedures and preparation of annual financial statements. Christopher is a board member in the current Governing Board of the National Board of Accountants and Auditors. Also is a member of Governing Council of Tanzania Association of Accountants.
Charles Paul is a Partner of Baas Associates since 2014. Before his admission into the firm as a partner he was the Audit Manager of the firm since its inception in August 2010. He has been involved in audit engagements of the firm participating in all sections of the audit processes from planning of the audit engagements through out to execution and completion. He has also been involved in accounting and tax consulting services. He is the holder of B.Com in Accountancy from the University of Dar es Salaam and registered with the National Board of Accountants and Auditors as Associate Certified Public Accountants in Public Practice. He is registered with Tanzania Revenue Authority to practice as Tax Consultant. Charles has also extensive accounting, tax and audit experience obtained from various organisations he worked with prior to joining BAAS ASSOCIATES. Throughout the period from 1998 to 2010 he has been conducting accounting and audit assignments on part time basis with Martec & Co. a professional audit firm operating in Dar es Salaam , Tanzania. Since 1995 to 1998 he worked with RSR Exploration and Management Ltd; a mineral exploration and prospecting company in Tanzania, as an Accountant. From 1999 to 2001 he was working with Dunia Company Ltd as Financial Manager. Dunia Company Limited deals with products promotion and events management. In 2002 he rejoined RSR Exploration and Management Limited as Chief Accountant, a position he held up to August 2010 when he was engaged by Baas Associates as an Audit Manager.
